Blooming Aztec Clash

Summer is well and truly underway here in the UK (hooray!) - and I am absolutely loving it - so I thought 'd share with you one of my favourite summer outfits that I am wearing at the moment.

I am absolutely loving the throwback of the skort this season, along with my slight (okay, major) obsession with floral print of course, so when I found this one there really was no going back. They're so practical and actually super comfy to wear too. The small print flowers makes the design appear a whole lot more dainty and delicate and I love the intricate multi-blue and purple pallet used. The design is pretty busy, but I think that the small colour scale does tone it down a fair bit, adding some subtlety to the pattern.

This roll back sleeve lace tee is literally perfect for this time of year. The box style means it hangs loosely, whilst the lace design keeps it light and cool to wear in our current heat. I'm still a sucker for aztec print - I just love the orderly patterns and defined geometric shapes - but the white lace keeps the pattern subtle and less in-your-face, making it perfect for teaming with busy patterned bottoms, like the skort. I tend to wear a blue bralet in underneath as the lace does mean that it's fairly see-through, but it also adds a colour block behind the colourless tee - bonus!

I love the way that the clash of the two patterns work together, simply because of the colourless patterned tee and I like to wear this outfit for both casual daytime wear and an evening out!

For an evening out, I usually team this skort and tee combo with my white caged sandals. They do have a chunky heel (yay for height!), yet they're still surprisingly comfortable! They do prove to be difficult in keeping snow white, but I find that a makeup wipe cleans them perfectly well. As an alternative, I do like to wear my pale pink jellies, which are fab for days at the beach.

Missguided Summer'14 Sale Favourites

Just in case - with the small chance - that you weren't already aware, Missguided currently have a midsummer sale happening. And it's mahoosive. I do love a good sale (who doesn't?!) so here's a quick selection of my favourites!

White Daisy Chain Playsuit - was £24.99, now - £19.99
White is the colour for SS14 and I'm still totally loving daisies, so naturally, I adore this playsuit. The delicacy of the cutout daisy design adds an intricate effect making it appear all the more cute and summery. I would pair this with a statement necklace as well as strappy sandals in order to add the element of colour to the outfit. A floral kimono would act as a perfect cover up too.

Mesh Panel Spaghetti Strap Crop Top - was £9.99, now - £5.99
These spaghetti strap crops are everywhere atm, but what makes this one stand out from the rest is the mesh panel, acting as an elegant block to simply add a more interesting factor to the top. The plain pale pastel tone of the top allows you to go all out on the rest of your outfit as it will go with any other patterns and colour. Fantastic! I would team this with a pair of floral shorts for a romantic summer look.

Blue Crochet Hem Shorts - was £14.99, now £12.99
I love crochet hems. Their vintage edge adds a delicate and classic effect which practically screams summer beach day: sun, sea and sand. The pale blue shade incorporates a cool and airy appeal, so to keep it up, I would team these with a pastel crop top and a pair of jelly shoes.

Floral Boxy Tee - was £19.99, now - £14.99
Co-ords are a huge trend at the moment and why not? Gone are all worries - finding a tee to match those shorts, or a skirt to match that top - straight out of the window! This floral set makes such a bold statement thanks to the large print of the pattern and the wonderfully bright pinks, and honestly, I love it! It makes the attire appear a lot more fun, casual and striking. For a casual outing, this set of co-ords would look fab with a pair of converse and frilly socks.

Floral Skort - was £14.99, now - £12.99
I am completely loving the comeback of skorts this summer, so of course I just had to include one in this post! The floral pattern on this one is absolutely beautiful due to the intricacy and delicateness of the design as well as the pastel wash of colours. I would team this one with a loose crochet tee and flatform sandles to keep the summer-cool look.

Have you made any Missguided summer sale purchases yet? How would you style these items?

SS14 Trend: Tropical Print Top Picks

Tropical print will brighten up any gloomy day as the trend appears to be hitting a new climate for summer 2014. I love the how the bright colours boldly form a clash against each other as well as the business of the prints. Here's my tropical favourites from both highstreet and online stores.

1) Bralet - Topshop
Patterned bralets are fabulous for brightening up a plain skirt/shorts/jeans, and this one would certainly do the trick! I love the business of this pattern and how the black acts to tone the pastel blues, greens and pink, making it stand out, ensuring that your style will not go unnoticed. This would look great for summer teamed with a plain asymmetric skirt, blazer and strappy sandals.

2) Bodycon Dress - Boohoo
Bodycon dresses really are a summer wardrobe must-have and printed ones like this really add that burst of colour, making them even more perfect for the season. I like the double strap design of this one as you can cross the inside pair over to add more of an interesting element to the look. Making it appear perfect for a summer evening out, I would team this with a pair of pastel strappy heels and a plain kimono.

3) Purple Kimono - New Look
Great for the evening when it's getting cooler as the summer sun sets, I love this art inspired kimono. The colours harmonise together beautifully and the pattern is slightly random, causing it to appear cleverly garden-like. For a casual day out, I'd pair this with a plain crop top and white skinny jeans, whereas for an occasion out, I would team it with a either a plain bodycon dress or a cropped tee and a midi skirt.

4) Cropped Shirt - Missguided
So comfortable top wear, shirts like this are great for keeping it casual with a pair of jeans. They're comfortable to wear and I love the loud, dramatic impact of the bold, monochromatic array of orange flowers against the jet black background of this one.

5) Scoopneck Playsuit - Topshop
So practical and versatile, jumpsuits are a fabulous comeback with really, nothing not to love about them. I love how the simple style and shape of this one shifts the focus to the almost mesmerizing wash of colours against the delicate, silhouetted palm trees. This playsuit would team perfectly with either converse or a pair of white chunky heeled cage sandals.

6) Palm Tree Wrap Skirt and Crop Top - Missguided
Co-ordinates are great for those days when you just can't decide which top to go with that skirt, or which shorts to go with that tee, and I absolutely love this silhouette palm set! The sunset shade of pale pink causes the silhouettes to stand out boldly whilst the asymmetric wrap skirt gives an interesting mismatched effect. This attire would look fab with a pair of strappy sandals and either a plain blazer or kimono.

7) Midi Skirt - New Look
Elegant and feminine, midi skirts emphasize a stunning silhouette, excellent for summer. I love how the bright colours accentuate the tropical print as well as the intricate floral design. I'd team this one with a plain crop top and jacket in order to maintain a focus on the bold pattern of the skirt, as well as to not cause any print clashes.

Will you be wearing the tropical trend this summer? How will you style it?
