AS Textiles Coursework Final Outcome

The coursework has just been piling up lately so I haven't blogged in what feels like ageees! I finally finished my AS textiles coursework last week, so I thought I'd share with you my final outcome for the project; the photos have come from the photoshoot which I had to include in my sketchbook - thank you to my lovely friend Devon for modelling. :)

Our brief was to work with geometric shapes, which at first I wasn't too sure about. How can you fill a whole sketchbook using only triangles, squares and circles? was my first thought. But as I began to collect my research of both artists and designers who use geometric shapes, I started to realise that actually, there were plenty of different ways to experiment with geometric shapes just by experimenting with their composition on the fabric.

I really enjoyed making my final outcome; I went for a simple A-line dress as we only had around 3 weeks to make it. I based my idea around a geometric painting by Terry Frost, and added in the triangles which I'd got from my observational images. Overall, i am very happy with how my outcome turned out and I cannot wait to begin the exam unit we are starting now!
